The Department of Chemistry is a dynamic centre for research at the frontiers of Chemical Science. The emphasis at the curricular level is to give a broad coverage of most common branches of chemistry in keeping with the inter-disciplinary nature of the subject today. The Department is well equipped with a wide range of sophisticated analytical instruments. The Department admits students to a three year degree programs in B.Sc., and a two year program in M.Sc. The Department of Economics has been offering programmes of study leading to three year degree program in B.A. (Hons.) Economics and a two year program in M.A. Economics. B.A. Economics is one of the most sought after subject of th students at DAV Collge. It has a balanced course content adequately covering Principles of Economics (both at micro and macro level) and quantitative techniques. It also gives a complete view of development of Indian Economy along with its current problems. Fair coverage of Money and Financial Markets and Public Economics is also done. Graduates can look out for direct placement in government and non-government organizations in India as well as abroad. They may pursue Masters in Economics or specialized education at well known business-management schools. The faculty consists of well-qualified, highly dedicated and experienced teachers. Geography is repositioning itself to meet these challenges, building upon its traditions as a broad, exacting and welcoming discipline that respects both process and place. As the historical geographer Felix Driver has recently emphasised, "Geography is a subject which has a reputation for being down to earth; its focus is on the real world, its landscapes and the way it is used".The Department of Geography is centrally located on the main campus. The Geography department offers specialised programs viz. B.Sc. in Gography and B.A. (G) Geography. Members of academic staff in the Department are involved in research across a spectrum of subjects that reflect the breadth and topicality of the discipline, and make use of a range of field, laboratory and library based methodologies and techniques.
Hindi is Our Mother language and is the Language of the Nation. It is said that it is the richest Language as far as grammar is concerned. Keeping this in mind the Hindi Department of the college has been striving for excellence in this field. The staff under the warm guidance of the Head of the Department has taken the responsibility of convening the beauty of this language to the students in the best possible manner. The professors and head himself indulge into activities in which they are able to teach the magic of Hindi to the students. Its teaching program is designed to provide students with a broad overview of world history narrowing down to focus on History of India with special emphasis on socio-economic and cultural history. Mathematics The Department of Mathematics is the pride of the college. Philosophy is the consideration of many different ideas, some deriving from the intellectual heritage of past cultures, others stemming from those issues we face in our present moment in history. While many disciplines study specific features of the world, Philosophy can be about almost anything.The College offers philosophy as one of the subjects in undergraduate, arts classes. The department's current faculty includes noted scholars in such fields as philosophy of religion, aesthetics, cultural criticism, ethics & moral philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, continental philosophy and the history of philosophy.
The department has infrastructures for all the indoor and outdoor games. Activities are carried out through out the year from 6.30am to 6.30pm. The following are the facilities available in the department of Physical Education. We have sufficient facilities in our campus for both field events and indoor games for the students to practice and to conduct the Inter-Collegiate tournaments, Intramural Sports and Coaching camps. Political Science The Department of Political Science provides students with the tools for a careful and systematic study of politics, within the scope of a liberal arts education. Students are grounded in factual material about governments and politics, and in political philosophy as well. The department’s program is also grounded in values: we study both what happens and what ought to happen in politics. We stress the importance of life-long academic skills in critical thinking, writing, and speaking. The Political Science Department believes strongly that learning is not limited to the classroom. CUrrently we are offering Post-Graduation in Political Science and we also offer Political Science as a subject in Under Graduate classes Punjabi Modern Punjabi is one of the fastest growing languages of the world, thanks to the Punjabi diaspora. A masters degree in Punjabi provides opportunities in professions like Teaching, Mass-Media, Creative writing, Research and so on.
Sanskrit is said to be the mother of languages in the living world. Acknowledged as the most suitable language for computer programming, the study of Sanskrit offers fascinating avenues in Indology, Vedic research , teaching,Civil services etc.

Botany, which started as an adjunct to Medicine, has been taught in DAV College for more than 30 years. At the present time the original ‘Botany Department’ plus the large Botanical garden are still the core of the department.The research activities of the department are very buoyant, with a substantial number of students.
