Some achievements of the department:

• New Department i.e. aviation Management on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University is introduced in the current session 2006-2007. two diplomas in this are:
  • P.G. Diploma in Air Travel services
    
    Prof. A.K. Trivedi is the Coordinator of this course.
     
• Prof. A.K. Trivedi delivered a talk on “Urbanisation & Pollution” at Govt. College, Bholath on 23.02.2004. Its report was published in the daily newspaper in the next day.
• Prof. A.K. Trivedi delivered a talk in National level Conference organized at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on behalf of “Punjab Geographer Association” on 31.10.2004. The topic was “Bee Culture in Best Doab Region of Punjab”. The paper was widely appreciated and arecommended for publication.
• Prof. K.D. & K.K. article on GIS was published in the daily newspaper “Dainik Jagran”.
• Prof. K.D. was appointed member Board of Social Science of GNDU, Amritsar for the two years period i.e. 2004-2005.
• Prof. A.K. Trivedi appointed Vice President of APG for two years in recognition of his administrative capability.
• Our Topper Anand Bajaj secured 1st position in G.N.D.U., Amritsar in general as well as Geography (Hons) in 2003-04. He was honoured in the National Conference on behalf of Punajb Geographer Association.
• The proper reading contest was conducted on 21.01.2005. Nine Colleges participated in this contest. H.M.V College won the running trophy. Former Head Prof. R.K. Wahi was the chief guest of the day.
• In the session 2005-06 B.Sc. Geography a new course has been introduced with the combination of Geography, Geo. Physics and Comp. Sc. and it was duly approved by the University.
• On the behalf of association of Punjab Geographers a National Conference was held on 29, 30 October, 2005. UGC sponsored this conference and we received Rs 70,000/- for the same. More than 150 delegates from different directions of the country participated in the conference. Prof. A.K. Trivedi was convener of the conference. Dr. P.S. Tiwari (President, NAGI and Prof. of Madras University, Chennai) gave away the key note address. Scholars from BHU, Aligarh University, Jammu University, Delhi University, H.P. University, Panjab University, Kurukshetra University & Panjabi University etc. participated.
• This is the one of the oldest department of the college and required renovation. Renovation work was done in the year 2005. It is the only department in the college which is totally renovated.
• In this department we have the facility of departmental Library and Internet Facility. At present we have 200 hundred books side by side we have developed a Museum where different Models, samples, Photographs and Maps are displayed for the students understanding.
• During 2005 as well as 2006 we took the students of Geo. Physics for field work to Solan(H.P.)
• In the conference Prof. A.K. Trivedi read a paper on “Role of Geographers for a common man” and Prof. Sunil Kumar read a pa[per on “Job Potential of Geography”. Prof. Sunil Kumar’s one of his article was published in the newspaper.
• Prof. A.K. Trivedi submitted his project is “Changing Land Use Pattern of Spatial and Temporal of Jalandhar City”. UGC has sanctioned Rs. 45,000.
• One our student Mr. Ravi Bhagat cleared UPSC Civil Services Exam and got IAS Cadre.
• Prof. Kanwar Deepak wrote books on Environment Education for classes XI & XII which were approved by P.S.E.B.
