![]() Lakhpat Rai Hostel The college has two hostels for boys: Mehar Chand Hostel and Lakhpat Rai Hostel, which provide accommodation to nearly 900 students in 480 rooms. There is a Third Hostel exclusively for girl scholars with a capacity of as many as 350 residents. The Fourth Hostel for sportsmen has recently been provided on the college playgrounds, and it caters to about 50 playing students. * Rooms: Their Variants Note: In the Non-AC rooms, the students can use their own Desert cooler in the summer and heat-convector in the winter season on payment of electricity charges. The students will be allowed to use their own computer on payment of electricity charges.
Ours are the biggest hostels in the state, adequately fitted with modern amenities like geysers, telephones, water-coolers, electric-light, flush lavatories, bath-rooms, our own water supply system through water cooler fitted with water purifier and an excellent health-care centre. The T.V. sets and other facilities for audio-video information have been installed in each hostel. Other facilities like hospital, shopping centre, a general store, a post office and a bank also exist at a stone's throw from the Hostel. The Chief Warden, Wardens and the supporting staff are always on their toes to help and guide the students. Holistic Development No pains are spared to provide all possible facilities and amenities to resident scholar to enable them develop their personality in order to become useful global citizens. The congenial atmosphere of the entire campus of the Hostels is conducive to the establishment of a true academic community with full opportunity for social, cultural and intellectual development. Every assistance is given to the individual student to adjust himself/herself effectively to all the aspects of college and community living. He/she is made to learn how to develop group-life in the hostel so that he/she has a feeling of belongingness and looks upon his/her residence as his/her campus-home. Gradually he/she develops a feelings of loyalty to his/her alma-mater, a concern for its progress and active support for its programmes. We want our students to combine excellence in academic achievement with dedication to service.
For the recreation of students, each Hostel is provided with a Common Room with excellent arrangement for indoor games. For the development of sportsmanship, tournaments are held once a year and the distinguishing players are awarded prizes. Each hostel has a Reading Room and a Audio visual Rooms attached to it. Every Dining Room, in each hostel has been provided with a Water-Cooler. Recreational activities include celebration of festivals and organising educational and pleasure tours. Hostels functionaries are conscious of duties with regard to the cultural and moral development of the boarders. Arya Yuvak!Yuvati Samaj is the most active association of students and it is doing very useful work in this direction. Prayers are held in the Hostel Yajnashala and these are followed by brief discourses on religious and moral subjects. A small library, having religious and philosophical books, is functioning for the use of the inmates of the hostel.
A healthy and peaceful corporate living is an art which one acquires by learning rather than by instinct and its pre-supposes creation of rules and regulation which all should respect and honor. It should be understood that perfection of human life lies in restraint and self-control. Discipline is the most important A Private Branch Exchange has been installed in the college. The resident should call at the P.C.O for trunk calls. In case of emergency, guardians can ring up the chief warden or the superintendent at the above telephone number regarding hostels affairs. The principal need not be contacted. The telephone talks in general should not continue for more than five minutes.
