A gala Convocation was organized in the auditorium of D A V College, Jalandhar. Prof G K Chadha, Hon’ble Member, Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister & Hon’ble C.E.O, South Asian University, New Delhi was Chief Guest on this occasion. He was received by Principal Dr. V K Tewari, Vice-Principal Prof. Satish Tandon, Vice-Principal R K Parashar, Registrar M S Shourie and Member of Academic Council. After the Guard of honour the chief guest was introduced to members of faculty. The function started with the light of lamp by chief guest. As per tradition, the ved mantra recitation was performed. Principal Dr. V K Tewari formerly welcomed the chief guest. He called Prof. G K Chadha as a distinguished scholar, an acknowledge economist, an astute administrator and above all an educationist par-excellence. Dr. Chadha has around 16 books and 84 research papers to his credit. Ten Research projects, seven done with international collaboration and three completed with national funding are to his name fourteen research scholars have successfully completed their doctoral thesis under his watchful guidance. Dr. G K Chadha is a much decorated academician with a plethora of awards and honour from various bodies. He has been awarded D.Litt (honoris cause) by P. U., Chandigarh. He is an expert in Economics of Education and Development Economics. His contribution in the formulation of education policy particular the higher education is great.

Prof. M S Shourie, Registrar, formally requested to the principal to declare the convocation open. As per tradition Principal formally announced the convocation open. On this occasion, 686 degrees were conferred upon. It included 444 post-graduate and 242 graduate of the session 2006-07.

Dr. Chadha read out the convocation address to the students in which he stressed on value based education which should also contribute towards development of the nation. He congratulated the students who received the degrees. As a teacher he taught the lesson of hard-work and honesty to the students. He give a message to the student they should also be positive to face the challenges of life. Prof. G K Chadha expressed that coming to DAV Jalandhar was like ful-filling a long –cherished dream for as a student and then later as teacher he had heard a lot about he great traditions of DAV College Jalandhar. He added that it was heartening to know the presence of so many girl students in the college. He felt that it was his firm belief that in two decades from now the word would be tripolar with US, China and India as it three prominent poles. He extorted the young students excel and chart their careers as India was the most happening place in World at the present.

Seth Kundal Lal Aggarwal, President, Local Committee presented a vote of thanks. The Registrar requested the Principal to declare the convocation close. As per tradition declared the convocation closed. The function came to end with National Anthem.
